    Effective Communication

Overview:

This active workshop is designed to guide participants through analysis of their current communication practices and to identify opportunities for improved communication between and within departments. Using social capital as a focusing concept, the course highlights the importance of communication for building positive and productive working relationships.

Objectives:

  • Recognize patterns of communication
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of current communication practices
  • Develop new or improved communication strategies with co-workers and in other departments

Certificate Available

May be used to meet elective requirements for any UOPD Professional Excellence Certificate (two 1/2-day workshops may be substituted for one full-day workshop).


How to Pay

UOPD accepts three (3) forms of payment:

- Departmental ISR (see on-line instructions for completing an ISR through HokieMart)
- Foundation Check
- Personal Check

Checks should be made payable to the Treasurer, Virginia Tech and mailed to UOPD, 148 Southgate Center (0538)

UOPD Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations must be made through UOPD by calling 231-6727 or emailing uopd@vt.edu at least 3 business days prior to the date of the workshop. ALL no-shows and cancellations received less than 3 business days prior to the date of the workshop will be charged the full cost of registration.
