Overview:  
    Project Management

Managing projects can be a daunting responsibility, as there are so many resources and steps to coordinate. Goals can be unclear in the beginning, and the scope can quickly creep into broad areas. This workshop presents an overview of the project management process, including best practices on managing through each stage in the project life cycle. There are also many helpful tools and resources that support successful project planning and implementation that are provided in 
this highly interactive session.  


Objectives:  

  • Learn and understand structured approach to managing projects
  • Understand best practices for each stage in project life cycle
  • Gain tools for documenting, measuring and tacking project requirements and outcomes
  • Practice skills in project planning

Certificate Available

May be used to meet elective requirements for any UOPD Professional Excellence Certificate (two 1/2-day workshops may be substituted for one full-day workshop).


How to Pay

UOPD accepts three (3) forms of payment:

- Departmental ISR (see on-line instructions for completing an ISR through HokieMart)
- Foundation Check
- Personal Check

Checks should be made payable to the Treasurer, Virginia Tech and mailed to UOPD, 148 Southgate Center (0538)

UOPD Cancellation Policy:

Cancellations must be made through UOPD by calling 231-6727 or emailing uopd@vt.edu at least 3 business days prior to the date of the workshop. ALL no-shows and cancellations received less than 3 business days prior to the date of the workshop will be charged the full cost of registration.
