UOPD has partnered with teaching and research faculty, administrative faculty, and with industry-leading training providers to offer a comprehensive variety of ongoing professional development workshops and seminars.  These programs are designed to provide Virginia Tech employees with highly engaging opportunities to increase core business knowledge and to develop critical professional skills.

Workshops are held on campus during normal work hours.  Participants must obtain approval from their supervisors to attend classes during their regular work schedule. Not all workshops/seminars are offered during both the Fall and Spring semesters.

Certificate programs

Certificate programs are available to all Virginia Tech employees. Certificate tracks include both core requirements and elective requirements. Core requirements are indicated below. Electives may be selected from any of the additional UOPD workshops/seminars offered. Specific certificate program details include:

• The elective requirements indicated represent the total number of full-day (or longer) workshops
• The participant’s manager/supervisor should be involved in the identification and selection of at least one of the elective workshops
• Completed workshops will be credited towards the certificate program identified by the participant
• Completed workshop electives cannot be used to meet elective qualifications for multiple certificate
• Workshops that are designated as core requirements for a particular certificate may not be used to meet elective requirements of a different UOPD certificate
