Target Audience: A/P Faculty, T/R Faculty and Staff in pay bands 5 and above who lead or manage teams, projects or individuals.
Our customized Leadership Development workshops are designed to meet the unique development needs of those who manage projects, teams, or individuals. The following workshops will be held on the Blacksburg campus in Fall 2009:
Leaders who participate in the 2-day "Management for Successful Leaders" and any three of the faculty or leadership offerings will receive the Virginia Tech Leadership Excellence Certificate. Your certificate will be mailed, and UOPD will recognize your commitment to developing your leadership excellence with an e-mail to your direct manager.
Commonwealth Management Institute (CMI) is a one-week program for mid-level managers that identifies and enhances management and leadership skills; targeted to people with responsibility for developing policy options, managing other people, or managing a major program or administrative function. Virginia Tech has had many participants in this program which continues to receive positive reviews. Nominations are accepted twice a year. The Faculty Development Institute's main goal is to enable the integration of new technologies into teaching and research by providing training, support, and resources.
