Target Audience: Designed for staff using desktop applications. Open to all VT employees.
Program Objectives: To support the desktop computer training needs of the university staff and to inspire employees to become more successful and productive in their daily activities.
Program Summary: UOPD is pleased to announce a new partnership with New River Community College for the Office Software Skills program. Participants will still be offered basic, intermediate and advanced courses in Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, Power Point & Word, along with Adobe's Photoshop.
Program Schedule: One-day instructor led classes are held from 8:30 am to 4:30 in 3080 Torgersen Hall.
Important cancellation requirements: Cancellations can be made up to five (5) working days prior to the date of a class. Employees must complete a cancellation request to UOPD. Participants who must cancel within 5 working days of the class are responsible for finding a replacement to attend the class or he/she will be treated as a "no show" (substitutions can be made at any time). Although classes are free, departments will be billed the actual cost ($35.00) of the class for any no show.
Certificate Available: Upon completion of six full days of training, participants will receive a major certificate of completion in Office Software Skills from Virginia Tech. Of the six days, participants must have at least two days of training in each of two different desktop applications. Up to three (3) completed Element K on line courses can be substituted for instructor lead classroom courses in meeting the above certificate requirements.
